ELECTRIC CYCLING FOR HEALTH... 6 WEEK COURSE OVERVIEW

The Course - A Summary:

 

A group of fantastic, inspirational, fun and courageous individuals have gathered at the Cycles Recycled HQ, each Thursday morning for the past 6 weeks for our 'Electric Cycling for Health' course.

 

The course was specifically devised to introduce electric cycling as a gentle, accessible form of exercise or rehabilitation. The attendees had a range of different reasons for attending... including injury, illness and lack of confidence/experience... and we've been so impressed with the willingness and progress each of them has demonstrated over the duration of the course!

 

Each week we started the session with a brew, a natter and a giggle before loading a range of electric bikes onto the van and heading to a quiet country lane on the outskirts of Clitheroe... the perfect setting to test out the bikes and gain experience. 

 

Over the 6 weeks, each cyclist has shown increased stamina, confidence and enjoyment of cycling - and they've experienced a wide range of different e-bikes.

 

We've greatly enjoyed running the course, and meeting all the attendees - and hope to keep in touch with all of them as they continue their cycling journeys!

Information about Electric Bikes:

 

Electric bikes provide the perfect route into the world of cycling... particularly for those who may feel nervous about the fitness levels required for regular cycling. The power assistance from an electric bike does not remove any of the health benefits of cycling - but it does provide a reassuring helping hand on hills, or when looking to cover extra distance on a bike.

 

The benefits of cycling (on a regular/electric bike) include:

  • increased cardiovascular fitness.

  • increased muscle strength and flexibility.

  • improved joint mobility.

  • decreased stress levels.

  • improved posture and coordination.

  • strengthened bones.

  • decreased body fat levels.

  • prevention or management of disease
