We hosted the first of our monthly bike maintenance courses on Wednesday 23rd Septmber... and it was a great success, enjoyed by all!
Jim, otherwise known (to his great delight!) as 'Dr Bike', hosted the session to the 8 enthusiastic attendees.
During the 2 hour session, the group mastered the following key skills:
- Taking off wheels
- Removing and replacing inner tubes
- Putting wheels back on
- Pumping up tyres and working out different types of valves
- Fixing a chain using a spare link
- Removing broken chain links
- Oiling - where and when
Those that attended left feeling more confident and able to peddle away, safe in the knowledge that they could fix up some of the key issues newbie/novice cyclists may worry about.
The maintenance sessions will continue, with recaps and new topics covered each time.
